Uruguayan Govt on June 30 sends troops to break up gen strike called by National Workers Conf; conf says 400,000 workers are participating in strike which has left Montevideo with little food or fuel; police, marines and army units clear factories, banks, public offices and refineries that workers have been occupying; Govt also disbands labor coalition, confiscates its property and says it will submit all union leaders and members who participated in strike to criminal justice; coalition source says that orgn has emergency plans for such a situation and its leadership will function underground; strike was called to protest Pres Bordaberry's closing of Cong on June 27 after it had refused to impeach leftist Sen E Erro, whom mil accuses of having contacts with Tupamaro urban guerrillas

Reporter Facing 30 Days in Jail Agrees to Testify About Attica

Buffalo TV newsman S Dan (WGR-TV), who was scheduled to begin serving 30-day sentence for contempt on July 2, agrees on June 29 to tell grand jury everything he knows about '71 Attica prison rebellion, saying nothing could be proved by him serving a jail term; was involved in televised bargaining sessions with inmates during riot and stayed inside prison to interview inmates; 2 inmates he interviewed were later found dead, and state investigators believe that his testimony might shed some light on deaths

Court Finds News Violates Trust Laws on Deliveries

Fed Judge A Bauman on June 29 declares that NY Daily News violated Fed antitrust laws in its home-delivery system for newspaper; directs home-delivery dealers, who has sued newspaper, to prepare order specifying 'appropriate form of injunctive relief; dealers sued News in '67 claiming violation of antitrust and other laws, including illegal territorial and customer restrictions; Bauman repts difficulties began when News in '65 became dissatisfied with its home-delivery circulation and decided to test new system in Nassau and Suffolk Counties using carrier boys who would buy their papers from franchised dealers
